RSI

Depuis 1993, le département de mathématiques du MIT participe au Research Science Institute (RSI), un programme d’été de six semaines organisé par le MIT pour les élèves de dernière année du secondaire. Les étudiants du RSI sont choisis pour leurs résultats supérieurs en mathématiques, en sciences et en ingénierie. La sélection pour le RSI est effectuée par le Center for Excellence in Education, une organisation à but non lucratif financée par des fonds fédéraux et privés, basée à Washington DC. Toutes les demandes concernant les candidatures au RSI doivent être adressées au CEE.

Il y a environ 3 000 candidats au programme chaque année et sur les 80 sélectionnés, environ un tiers vient de l’étranger et deux tiers des États-Unis. Environ une douzaine d’étudiants sont sélectionnés pour travailler sur des projets de recherche en mathématiques. Les conseillers du département de mathématiques du MIT pour le RSI jumellent chaque étudiant avec un mentor étudiant diplômé en mathématiques ayant des intérêts compatibles. Le mentor de l’étudiant diplômé élabore un projet de recherche, souvent en consultation avec un conseiller pédagogique du MIT. L’étudiant diplômé rencontre ensuite chacun de ses mentorés chaque jour de semaine pendant le programme RSI. Le Dr Slava Gerovitch est le directeur du programme.

Past Projects

À la fin du programme, les étudiants font des présentations les uns aux autres et à un panel de scientifiques qui sont généralement d’anciens participants au RSI eux-mêmes. Consultez les résumés et les articles des projets mathématiques récents.

Recents prix

Les étudiants de la RSI utilisent souvent leurs projets pour participer à l’Intel Science Talent Search (Intel STS) et au Siemens Competition in Math, Science and Technology ou à l’Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF). Le groupe de mathématiques a été très bien représenté parmi les gagnants de ces concours.
